If it’s a perfect 70° day, my wife will happily wear shorts & a T-shirt; make it 90°, and set the A/C to 70°, and she’ll have on jeans & a jacket, huddled under a blanket complaining she;s freezing. Janis seems to be of the same thermal make-up.
after living in the south for half my life I still find the urge to put on a sweater when September hits. Still feels strange to wear shorts in Fall but the 90+ weather has definitely cured me of wearing sweaters.
Hubby will set the a/c on Polar, and sleep on top of the sheet, while I am under the quilt wearing a housecoat with the hood pulled up. I’m not sure we’re even the same species!
I’m just like Janis. I think it’s the dryness and coldness of the air coming out of the vents. Yes, the air in the room may be 70, but the air coming straight toward my chair from the vent is a lot colder.
I used to be hot all the time – not change hot flashes, HOT! back to when I was a kid. I would not wear a winter jacket unless it was close to 45F and then would not zip it until it was down to freezing – if then – drove husband crazy and he always told me I would get sick – I didn’t.
I lost weight. I became cold all the time. I was told it must be my thyroid and I should give in and take the med instead of dealing with it with diet. I did. I got colder. I went through the changes. Now I am freezing all the time.
Okay, so when one is cold one does as Janis did and put on something warm. I put on a sweatshirt. Apparently when one feels freezing cold and it is 80F and one puts on a sweatshirt, one gets just as ill as if one was hot and did this. I almost had heatstroke.
So now I am freezing all the time and just have to bear it. Husband and I have an agreement – if I feel comfortable I am to put on the a/c as it means it is too hot not to.

My daughter has worn sweaters and jackets all through the hot summer – even after she passed out!

I don’t think women have a temperate setting – they’re either freezing or sweltering

So many stores set the air conditioners at full force, so you go from 90 degrees outside to 65 inside.

I wish it was that cool here. Highs are still in the low 90s.
