It depends on where you live, but probably true in many parts of the United States. But I think April or May might also fit that description in a lot of places.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac says that October usually has 19 fine days. I have found that to be correct more often than not. October in Ohio is my favorite time of year. Crops being harvested, trees changing colors, the light is flat, hunting season opens for archery buffs like me, autumn fishing is also pretty good for pan fish. Oktoberfest parties, the Circleville Pumpkin Show, pumpkins themselves ripe for making into homemade pie and other goodies, beggar’s night near Halloween.

Overall, most years, life is good in October.

Not here. Here in the Sunshine state it’s still 90 degrees with 90 percent humidity.

We still have the 90° here in central Texas, but at least we don’t have the 90% humidity to go with it, and 90° is a nice cooling from what it was a month ago.

It works for me today. In my part of Texas, the high will be 82. Won’t last, though.

For the few weeks past temperatures have been in the 80 degrees, but with low humidity it has felt colder.

I hate October, the only month that’s worse is February, and that’s because it’s actually within winter. Give me May!

October is cold. I even knew it was cold when I was hot all the time. September is in between.

The good thing about Christmas stuff coming out in stores is that it means the awful Halloween stuff is going away.
