I refer you to a Heinlein book called “Friday”. The title character was a DNA construct from many multiple parents. Folks of her type used “my mother was a test tube” as sort of a mantra.

Reread The Moon is A Harsh Mistress and Starship Troopers too. It was a shame what the movie makers did to it. The folks who did Firestarter could have done it justice.
