I wasn’t much good in gym class except for when we did wheelbarrow racing. That’s the one where one kid holds the feet of another kid (the “wheelbarrow”) and they would race. The “Wheelbarrow” would run on their hands.We would race to the far end of the gym and back again to our teams and then the next couple kids would take off. Once,when I was around 8 years old, I actually saw my gym teacher’s jaw drop when he saw how fast I went as the wheelbarrow. We were in the final leg of the race. All the other teams had made it to the far end of the gym before we even got started. But I made it to the far end of the gym and back faster than the other teams made it one way. Our team won the relay race! All the kids on the other teams claimed it was not fair because I was short and they claimed that made it easier for me. But the real secret to being a good “wheelbarrow” isn’t your size. You just have to keep your back straight and keep your feet still. When I had to be the pusher instead of the wheelbarrow, it was hard to go fast. I loved being the wheelbarrow!

You know, this ending was so predictable to me that it took me 24 hours and a second reading of the strip before I figured out what the joke was supposed to be. I didn’t even consciously think “of course, Jon gets beaten by a woman” – I just took it as totally predictable, for this strip. How sad.
