Dr. Fish has the test results that the mailman brought in yesterday’s strip and you could cut through the tension with a knife! Whoever asked whether Mrs. Catchem ever appears, there she is.
I have to work at 8am every day, today I get in early because theres ZERO traffic.. I get to work and including MY car.. theres only FOUR in the lot.. mine, the security guard, and the two people in the cafeteria.. and the maintainence guy just came around so theres like 5 or 6 of us in this building right now… no idea WHY I am here but if im lucky I will get out by 3pm.
I’m okay with them using postal mail because of the tension that was generated, but of course nowadays these results would be sent from the lab to the doctor electronically. Before that, it would have been sent via fax. And anything confidential like that would need to be signed for by someone in Dr. Fish’s office, which I don’t believe happened here. (I know, suspension of disbelief LOL)
Now we have many different people working on many different types of cancer cures, none using chemo. All using brand new types of treatments. The Vice program on HBO on Cancer was extremely interestingThe war on Cancer is finally, after 30+ years, finding ways to both cure and in at least 1 type of Cancer, they have discovered a vaccine.
I was just remembering that Christmas fell on a Sunday in 1949, the year that Tracy married Tess Trueheart. The whole Sunday page was devoted to the big revelation that they had married “yesterday”, and that Tracy had purchased a brand new home for them to live in. Chief Patton, (who had been Chief for only about a year) fainted at the news. So did the editors of the Saturday Evening Post, according to Jay Maeder’s book about Dick Tracy, because their latest issue contained an extensive interview with Chester Gould, in which he had proclaimed that Tracy would almost certainly never marry, because of the demands of his job as a police detective. But, Gould just changed his mind.
I read that continuity in the Harvey reprint comics in the late 50s or early 60s – it has remained one of my favorites.
There’s NO WAY the news is bad. The doc seems to be smiling ever so slightly. I can’t believe the boys would create such a downer this time of the year.

News to hear, news to fear
No one knows for sure
Holding tight, with all our might
Praying for a miraculous cure
Together we’ll stand, hand in hand
And face what lies ahead
Either bad or good, it’s always understood
The vows exchanged the day we wed
Through sun or rain, in joy and pain
No matter what tomorrow has in store
My all, my life, my husband, my wife
My love for you goes deep into my core

Are we hoping for another Hannukah miracle Can we say “A Great Thing Happened?”

It rains a lot in this universe. There is often hard rain pouring down the windows. Yet it doesn’t seem to have much bearing on the story.

Our twisted Santa-poet, Gweedo, reminds one of The Demolished Man, but I’m reasonably sure that’s just a coincidence.
I hope Doc Fish isn’t bearing bad tidings for Sam and Margie on the eve of Hanukkah.
Blessings on the House of Catchem….
