Let it go to voice mail Baldo is thinking. It doesn’t have voice mail, idiota! Just pick it up and if they ask for your father or grandaunt, then take a message!

I have a better question! Why isn’t Baldo doing the dishes? Then Papi could pick up the phone.

Just like the ad where kid on computer makes a call, old lady slowly answers it, about 12 feet from kid, then grandson(fat kid) says, Grandma, could you please get me a soda. grandma glares at kid, so angry she cant speak

I’ve been getting up to look at Caller ID, but if I don’t get there in time, the answering machine can handle it. Anyone that really knows me has my cell phone number. The house number is still helpful to put on forms, when you need a number, but aren’t crazy about taking their calls.

The Spanish version doesn’t mention the cord, only that Baldo is sure it’s not for him. A rather different joke.

There will always be a landline in my house. Cellphones become bricks when a hurricane takes out the towers.
