We had a dog a bit like that. Black Lab mix. She was the only dog that ever actually adopted me instead of the reverse. We lost her a few months ago, after 15 years. It ain’t about the pedigree….
Odd, isn’t it, that a comic strip can, once again, reaffirm my faith in the human race (especially the Sexy Pants division)! Thank you, Mr. Breathed; thank you.
Started working for a local shelter 12years ago. Decided to foster, 18 plus some cats.Eventually adopted two, which gave us 4 plus 4 cats, so we stopped fostering due to space limitations. Then we found another 2 (we’re rural, with all that means).Due to age and illness we’re “down” to 4 and2.Would we do it again? OF COURSE!And if you haven’t, I urge you to help fund, volunteer, adopt, support your local shelter. And I vote for the roller skate!
Moved to a semi-rural area near Plattsburgh, NY back in the 80’s. Over the next 16 years, 14 cats came wandering out of the woods (one literally fell down the chimney!). Moved over to Vermont with seven, then down to South Carolina with three. We lost one to kidney failure a few months later. My wife volunteers for the local shelter and we adopted two more last year, while I volunteer with the SC Aquarium. Keep busy and vote SKATE!
You have to wonder in real life if the woman who asked for a fancy purebreed would be mad at the guy who gave her a mutt? If only they were all as smart as this one.

I kind of hope Zulu gets promoted to Commander.
And a Roller Skate instead of a soup ladle.
Maybe quad skates with smoke jets like Candice Heiden uses in the video Sweet Lovin’ by Sigala.

And what happened next?
In Bloom County, they say
That Sexypants’ heart
Grew three sizes that day.

And he STILL can’t figure out how he got actual feelings!
To the tune of a certain old rock song: Keep on res-cu-i-ing!

I admit, no twit is without wit. But the Sith Lord Sexypants has done an outrageously Good Deed. Maybe there is redemption for him yet.
Brave Opus! Let him sleep it off.
Sam the Lion will awake to the snores of Zulu!

Another in my (very short) list of exceptions to the “comics aren’t supposed to make you cry” rule!

You have to wonder what the early Berke Breathed would make of the current Steve (or what the early Steve would make of his later self!)
