Think I might’ve called this one.

And what do we have for the Lunar New Year, but the Dragon Lady, as many of you had guessed!

All this talk of “the fifth bidder” makes me think that the Spirit might somehow be one of the other four. If he isn’t, I can’t explain it, unless Mike can’t count to five. Could they be keeping someone hidden from us that all of the characters seem to know about?

Maybe Vista Bill will make a “bid” on her now that Rikki is in lockup !

I still think that the fifth bidder is Bribery. And who would be his representative since he could not be personally present? Someone here said it might be Doubleup. I hope the last bidder will be known tomorrow.

It’s funny that we’ve seen Hotshot Charlie and The Dragon Lady, yet no sign of Terry Lee.

Darn! I forgot the name of Carrion’s cute little pet birdie.

Well with all the predictions of the Dragon Lady coming I expected her too and would have been surprised if it was someone else.

It has taken just over a month, but I think we have all the major characters introduced now and we should be able to start on the actual story. I’m working on my story map — this story is quite different in structure from most others — but I’m hoping to get it up when tomorrow’s strip goes up.

This is a pretty ‘big deal’ crossover, encompassing characters not only from ‘Dick Tracy’ and ‘The Spirit, but ’Annie’ and ‘Terry And The Pirates’ as well.

I’m wondering if the missing bidder is Basil St. John, with a theory that the Flammel elixer can be blended with his black orchid serum to extend its effects.

Ummm.. I may have missed something here but… how did the spirit get from the hotel where he was supposedly locked in on the 28th floor with tracy as security… to police headquarters where bonnie braids got her glimpse of him (on a rainy day by the way) and BACK to the hotel again without anyone saying anything about it?

on top of THAT query, I add this…. when we saw spirit at police HQ (whilst, i’m assuming, he was supposedly at the hotel) he was SINGING which he was never shown to do at all before in this strip.. taking it a step further…Harley Naiv has a very bad habit of singing when he is putting plans into motion

just throwing that out there in case I actually DID miss the transaction of Spirit leaving the hotel, going to police hq to be ogled by Bonnie, then coming back to the hotel..drip dry even tho it was raining out

The Dragon Lady continued to appear in the George Wunder years nearly till the end of the strip being killed by the syndicate. At one point she was the “hero” of one story, infiltrating and destroying a plot to substitute doubles of world leaders.

Perfect. I just re-read “Teddy and the Pirates” yesterday.

“Right, Dragging Lady!”

The party has begun…. everyone has either lit up and/or has a drink. Wonder who will be the first to break out the drinking straw.

There has been something of an Asian feel to this story, with the Hotel Siam, Spirit’s mention of P’Gell (who he first met in Turkey), Hotshot Charlie and now the Dragon Lady. Also, with Oliver Warbucks present, can Punjab and the Asp be far behind?

It would be nice if the five bidders were from 5 different strips. We already have Diet Smith (Tracy), Oliver Warbucks (Annie), Carrion/Octopus (Spirit) and Dragon Lady (Terry and the Pirates); Basil St. John (Brenda Starr) would work, but there are others. Also, note that none of these 5 is the title character of his or her strip.

[Basil St. John, whom I’ve mentioned before in Comments here, would certainly be apt, but I see no real, hard evidence that he will appear; at this point it’s just a guess and maybe a wish.]

Regardless of the mysterious No. 5, the game’s afoot, and soon the auction can begin! It will be interesting to see how the varied cast shakes out into alliances or oppositions as the story progresses!
