I have to get used to checking this site one minute after the hour instead of 11 minutes after. Now, it’s 18 minutes after, but I had to go read the end of yesterday’s comments.
Oh~!! I might have a recommendation for a new comic strip that everyone should check out soon, need to sit down and actually read and properly critique more of it first.
I’ve always wanted to go to Metropolis, IL on ‘Superman Day,’ but the logistics are a little daunting: There seems to be no way to get there short of flying into a not-that-close airport and renting a car, then driving along unfamiliar roads, not a pleasant prospect.
Here’s an idea for a team-up, an obscure character created by a former assistant of Chester Gould – some of her stories have been collected in comic book form in recent years …
here’s the clues we have right now as to our bald mystery man (who I am sure we’ve met before)
1) well, he is bald lol
2) he is familiar with ‘carny schemes’ (in fact, he says “it’s an OLD carny scheme” which leads me to believe he has been around for a while)
3) he knows who Pouch is
4) he’s looking to steal the money from the bidders
5) he doesn’t believe the immortality angle (tho HOW two guys working with plants know exactly what the bidding is for is beyond me)
6) he is a horticulturist.. or has more than a passing knowledge of plant care
so using these clues, I think it’s someone who had “died off panel” before.. and I may stick with my original thought of it being Panda and that SOMEWHERE in those plants is a baby muerte vine… either Panda or I’m going WAAAAAY out there and picking BIG BOY CAPRICE as my second choice. (Tho it would be GREAT if it was…ABNER KADAVER!!!!!
Hm. Since Kitchen and his friend are working IN the Siam, Pouch’s plans can’t be about the layout of the hotel, because they’d already know it. I guess it’s about other aspects of the security specifically related to the transfer of the money in the auction.
So I’m not sure anyone has mentioned this yet – Kitchen has been seen working in both an ice cream truck and as a gardener for the Hotel Siam – the latter possibly a temp job he and his confederate obtained just for this caper?
@NeilWick I just noticed that the GC index widget marks in yellow all messages after the point you selected. It helps make reading GoComics comments easier. Thanks
Now if Kitchen’s partner were named “Sink” — let’s make that “Cinq” — he’d be Tracy’s old friend Willie the Fifth, who disappeared in a blaze of inglory, but wasn’t quite established as dead-fish-dead.
Like almost everyone else already here, I can hardly wait to find out who the big “gardener” with his back turned to us really is, whether an old character recycled or an entirely new one hiding his face for no real reason but to trip us up. Kitchen prompts the new guy to suggest that Perenelle is running “an old carny scheme,” which may or may not be accurate—it’s another one of the plot elements crying for elucidation. I have been somewhat skeptical of “Perenelle” all along, so I wouldn’t be totally surprised if he turns out to have characterized her enterprise correctly, But if he’s wrong, I’m good with that, too. And there is still the matter of the unidentified bidder or bidders. There is a lot on our platters; I hope we’ll not let the repast get cold!

It seems that the Hotel Siam has been infiltrated for this. Mr. Am will not be pleased. He
may not be surprised either.

So I was wrong, they are bringing in real paper money.

Sort of off-topic …

No doubt Mike’s been there many times. :)

Immortality? Maybe not such a scam. Walt over at Gasoline Alley seems to have discovered the secret.
