balrogs don’t use swords

Shameful. Real Dungeoners use index cards, graph paper, & dice. Period.

I have experienced gamers who will detail a game into utter oblivion.

I remember two other strips that were similar to this one. In one, Marcus made Jason ride his bike to the store in the rain to get a balrog miniature after he used a Warhammer figure instead. Another time, he made him change the cave of 1000 cave demons into the first of 333.3 caverns because the cave demons were attacking in small waves and because he didn’t have enough miniatures.

and later….one of them enters the UPSIDEDOWN, while one is pursued by an evil government agency.

That figurine’s going to be SO layered with paint after this game…

Rookie mistake, Marcus. You send in the party’s thief to backstab the sleeping orc. Then the rest of the party can gang up on the balrog.

It’s “centurion.” When I first read the misspelling, I thought of a centenarian.

I’ve often seen unpainted minis used in play, but repainting minis in play? Dedication.

Break out the cameras and make the game a stop-motion animation!

This might be the first time a Balrog has been depicted in FoxTrot. Most of the other strips tend to have it as an off-panel gag.
