Poor Portia. She tried so hard to stay slim in her past life. Why did it have to be a PIG! Couldn’t I have transformed into a gazelle? Anorexia and compulsive excercise!

Sadly, if I was in a world that had nothing but canned beans to live on, I’d consider the starvation diet, too… Come to think of it… Hasn’t Jacob Jackrabbit started implementing mutant bi-products now? After all, it all started when someone figured out how to make a chocolate cake using chicken eggs, cow’s milk, and chocolate candies.

Being changed into something else does have a psychological impact. This while the last world war is going on and everything you know is being destroyed. Suicide would be common.

Yes, quite simply, Portia is running and starving herself thin. It’s not working.

Beautiful details again: In panel 2, Walt has to reach down to use the pig-level light switch. Thanks, Mister Neathery.

The phone call may have been from someone wanting her to reverse-mortgage her body. The missing people could be mortgagers who were culled before their natural deaths. She may be afraid they’ll try to cull her anyway without the mortgage, and is trying to make herself too skinny to harvest.

That’s the problem with crash diets. Too often they end with a crash.

Hypoglycemia can be deadly, and rather quickly at that. He needs to call an ambulance and have them get an IV of Dextrose 5 with water (D5W) started immediately.

Yeah, I kinda figured we had a case of anorexia on our hands. I’m guessing she was a thin and attractive woman before she mutated, and when she became a pig whose natural body shape would never be anything less than “chubby” she began this crash diet and near constant exercise regime in a futile effort to regain what she had lost.
