You lift the receiver to your ear and talk, you idiot.
Also, house phones arenât really outdated. Theyâre a great backup for when your cell service is messed up, or if you live in a wooded area, such as where I live.
Oye out going message: âSorry Jon canât answer the phone right now because he doesnât remember how! Please Call back when heâs done with the home telephone refresher course.â
20 years ago I got my 1st Cell Phone, it took me about 2 weeks to stop waiting for a dial tone. And about another week to get used to hitting send after dialing.now on 12 years without a land line. Iâve had a smart phone for 4 years now and I will never go back to a land line.
Well, Jon is self employed, so I guess he wouldnât use landlines regularly at work like most people.
This strip reminded me that I never got rid of my phone after having it disconnected several years ago. Still hanging on the wall. But people always have their cell phones with them, so you donât hear âcan I use your phone?â much anymore.
And I would have little idea how to use that thing thatâs in your hands, Jon. Iâd also probably need smaller, less clumsy fingers. Heck, I still use a dial phone because I have a tendency to mis-dial with buttons. Ask the folks at the 911 office. I have a family member with a number that starts â917â and a finger twitch at the â1â has caused a couple irritations for them and one trip here by the local police to confirm I was safe. A lost phone? Never happens as itâs always at the end of the cord.

It looks like Jonâs phone is a push-button; if it was an old rotary, heâd really be in trouble.

We use our landline for my parents, doctor/dentist offices, and utilities.

Land lines do not drop calls when reception or battery power fails. They also have better sound quality.
