At least their hearts are in the right place. Many have felt the same way, wanting to do or give more than we’re capable of. This is especially true during times of natural disasters, flooding, earthquakes, hurricanes. We want to do more, and we applaud those who can.
Agnes doesn’t yet understand how very much she has been given: love, food, clothing, shelter, protection from war and roving bands of outlaws, immunizations from many killer diseases, clean air and water, free public education with long-suffering teachers and principal, public library access, television, internet, freedom of worship and a bunch of other freedoms, unlimited opportunities for the future and — of course — a very tolerant friend, Trout.
