Almost the entirety of civilization has been devoted to the idea of minimizing the amount of actual work we have to do. We need to prepare for the jobless economy of the future, when robots and automation will do 90% of what needs to be done, but the rest of us still need food, clothing, shelter, entertainment, etc. And those things canât be dependent on having a job, because the jobs wonât be there.
@BIGPUMA: Iâve always been about perseverance. I played college football, and thatâs what was always drilled into us. Work hard, keep trying, always go forward. The guys who move on from college to the pros arenât always the ones who have the most talent, but the guys with some talent who gave 100% effort 100% of time will almost always get signed.
Muhammad Ali once said: âI hated every minute of training, but I said, âDonât quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.ââ Thatâs what itâs all about. Even those of us who never made it past college ball, took that attitude into our lives after the game, and succeeded in what we did do.
Miles Davis said you have to play despite all distractions, and the belief that you arenât going to play well is a distraction. (on a different note {pun not intended} he also said when you play you blow from the knees up.)
