Give it up AK! Even some of the most of the illogical wingnuts have come to understand that Obama was including US territories and possessions (we have lots of them). I assume you must be on the far right of the wingnut scale with your buddies Limbaugh, Beck, Dobbs, Palin, etc. I think I’ll report you to the Obama “Death Panel” for evaluation…. S

How does the Kool Ade taste, rtcsk?

NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE (American)! refers to the United States by any number above 50!

In order to apologize for Mr. Obama’s colossal ignorance you must legitimize his gaffe by parsing his words to suit your political paradigm.

Please do yourself a favor and start REALLY reading the output of theWhite House’s news releases to MSM then try to find an alternate viewpoint, if you can open your mind and eyes far enough.

At the time he was born his Birth certificate would have had to have been 1) Type written or 2) had written. The one he has Produced was obviouslly computor produced Hence its not the origional, thus folks are stateing that it Possiblly is Just a construct and not legitimate. I should note that its entirly possible that given the time frame the origional may simply no longer exist. If thats the case useing the computer genrated one is as good as its gonna get. So belive what you will it aint gonna get any better.

I can hear the sound of drumbeats that were quieting in the distance, once again getting louder.

Gary really knows how to stir up the birthers allowing them to showcase their intellect on this comment page.

Keep it up…I for one love it.

Wow! There ARE real life birthers here. You people really need to shift your focus and debate on facts which are true. When wingnuts latch on to “issues” such as fake birth certificates and euthanizing senior citizens they only marginalize the “conservative” movement even further. The Republic party is rapidly becoming the final refuge of southern white men and their fellow travelers. You can’t win elections in a country with an electorate which is becoming increasingly diverse by tailoring your message to appeal to a shrinking base.

I just finished reading an article about the Republic party infighting in the Texas governor race. It seems that far right conservatives supporting Gov. Perry are attacking the more moderate Sen. Kay Bailey-Hutchinson. They are calling for her to leave the race because she is not a “true” Republican. Can you say, “I’m melting.”

To the Heinz 57 people. How can you use words like “ignorant” to describe Obama after supporting our very anti-intellectual last president? Even Darth Cheney is writing a book in which he calls Bush “soft.”

Have you seen the Kenyan BC that’s floating around? It is so obviously fake, it’s from the Republic of Kenya, which didn’t exist at the time of his birth, and one of the officials that signed it is actually a laundry detergent!

rtacsk: as opposed to facts which are false? Such as, for example, virtually everything the left has screeched about Sarah Palin? And Rush Limbaugh? And on, and on, and on…

(Incidentally, I’m a conservative. NOT A REPUBLICAN! Different things.)

The fake Kenyan birth certificate was made from an Australian birth certificate, the original of which is available online.

You can tell, because the Kenyan one has the same registration number, and the signature of two Australian officials. Oops!

(But not as big an oops as having it predate Kenya by a couple of years, as Beaniebones noted!)

I’m glad it was made, though, because it was fun to see the same birthers who reject authentic Hawaiian documents immediately accept the fake Kenyan one!

The most probable explanation for the “57 states” remark is not the territories. In fact, he was visiting the 48 continental states, and was trying to say he had visited 47, with one more to go. However, he slipped, saying “fifty” instead of “forty”.

If you watch the video, he paused a bit between saying “fifty” and “seven”…he probably realized it was coming out wrong, but was too exhausted to bother fixing it.

Bubbie, the issue isn’t whether he was a citizen, but whether he’s a “natural born” citizen. Unfortunately, that term has never been legally defined.

But I would hazard a guess that being born to an American mother in Hawaii should qualify him…

    rtacsk,

Give what up? I made a joke about Obama’s “57 states” flub. What’s your problem?

    Hugh B. Hayve,

    Indeed.

    ozzimandius,

The CoLB is obviously not a 47-year-old document, and not a photocopy of one. That doesn’t mean it isn’t a real CoLB. Problem here is that the press has been less than thorough in explaining this document.

The two questions to ask: who issues it, and how is it generated. The document itself answers the first question - Hawaii’s Department of Health. How it is generated is explained in Joe Allen Doty’s comment.

[JAD had posted while I was still working on this comment; I deleted my DHHL excerpt that already appears in that comment.]

Here’s five words we wouldn’t be hearing if Obama wasn’t born a US citizen: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Recall that people were questioning McCain’s eligibility early in 2008 (if not earlier). You think she wouldn’t have investigated Obama’s citizenship paper trail, knowing his dad is foreign-born? We would have seen Hillary displaying O’s foreign birth certificate in classic “Dewey Defeats Truman” pose if that document existed.

One reason I took so long with my comment is because I was sidetracked by this quote has been circulating the Internet:

“In order to process your application (to verify that you are a genuine native Hawaiian), DHHL utilizes information that is found only on the original Certificate of Live Birth, which is either black or green. This is a more complete record of your birth than the Certification of Live Birth (a computer-generated printout). Submitting the original Certificate of Live Birth will save you time and money since the computer-generated Certification requires additional verification by DHHL.”

It is attributed (by both sides of the argument) to the same DHHL site - and it’s not there. Maybe it used to be there and DHHL since updated its website, just as the IRS often (if not annually) rewords its 1040 introduction. I just wish the IRS would stop using “customer” synonymously with “taxpayer”…

You know, I really don’t care for President Obama’s politics and where he is leading. But some of the stupidest things are being floated to try to fight him.

It’s like “Gosh, I have a burglar coming into my home. I’m going to dress up in my Superman outfit to take care of him!” Folks, this is a simple civics lesson. BECOME ACTIVE IN POLITICS. Do NOT spend your valuable time and effort thinking any of these silly stupid birth certificate or internet rumors will do anything. It honestly makes you look stupid! Use your heads!

Well, besides the obvious facts that President Obama is a Muslim communist, took his oath on the Quran and won’t salute the flag, let’s not overlook the 30,000 freshly-dug empty graves “somewhere” in Arizona, or the boxcars, with shackles inside, the government is having built to transport prisoners (after the roundup of REAL Americans). Also, you may not be aware that Hugo Chavez (yes, THAT Hugo Chavez) owns the software that operates our voting machines - wow! one commie helps another commie get elected? Did I leave anything out? Probably - too much to keep track of. Let’s hear it for Orly Taitz and her friends, who believe all this implicitly. Read the 2-parter in Esquire magazine, by John Richardson, who accompanied Orly and group on part of their crusade to save us all. It would be hysterically funny, if it wasn’t so terribly scary.

Edit: None of the above silly beliefs are in any way meant to be thought of as MY beliefs. Thank you.

“The drinking of poisoned flavored soft-drink didn’t even occur in the USA. It happened in Central America. ”

If you’re referring to the Jonestown incident, it took place in Guyana, which is on the South American continent.

Chikuku said, about 3 hours ago

“District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, Marshall Islands, American Samoa, and Calisota.”

The Republic of the Marshall Islands used to belong to the USA, but is now an independent nation. The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (whose chief population center is Saipan) is still under U.S. control.

PSU, please cite one lie about either Sarah or Rush that was stated as fact by anyone in the MSM or in a MS Democratic organization. Yes, I’m excluding the far-left nut-job bloggers. Just as I don’t think conservatives are accountable for the Hillary-killed-Vince-Foster nuts, I don’t think BHO should be accounatble for the Bristol-is-Trig’s-mother nonsense. So what are we left with? The assertion that Rush is a hypocritical former-drug-addict bajillionaire? Where’s the lie there?

I had the privilige of being stationed at Ft. Myer, VA, home of the US Army’s Old Guard Ceremonial Unit. You know, the guys who guard the Tomb. (I never did have that honor). Anyway, at every large ceremony we had we would put out all 50 state flags and all 7 territorial flags. The guys who did this were on S&T detail, State and Territorial.

So if the US Army can figure out that we’re much more than 50 states I think a smart guy like Obama can as well. Give it up guys, don’t let the scary black man in the White House upset you so much.

No, Susan, not me. I was merely pointing out some of the strange things the “birthers” actually believe. That’s why I suggested reading the Esquire article, which goes into the insanity in more depth. Make no mistake, though - there seem to be millions (yes, millions) of people who believe these things, and report them on the internet as gospel. There are calls for Texas and Georgia to secede from the union - it goes on and on. Not just “backwards country people”, but elected legislators. Yes, the things I mentioned are ridiculous to most of us, but they are firmly believed, unfortunately, by way too many.
