I eally hope we’re given a MOTIVATION for a young lady to be vandalizing those tombstones, other than it making it easy for Tracy to solve the robbery…..cause her doing that was a shocker and at this point a bit unbelievable….
Avenger09 says I am always apologizing for what he thinks are “mistakes” in the art, but I usually don’t agree that they are mistakes. The art in this story has been getting better and better as the story progresses, but today is not an example of that. Tracy’s left arm in the first frame makes me very uncomfortable. It’s too short, it’s at a very awkward-looking angle, and it doesn’t seem to have an elbow. I don’t think that Shelley’s art has had any major flaws except for this one. Nobody’s perfect.
Avenger09, re “7 days under 100 comments and counting!” – of late, Luann is getting better than 200 comments a day – and I consider the strip nothing more than a teenage kiss-and-tell soap opera. Recently, I even called the strip a “train wreck,” which I believe it is. (Today’s installment really takes the cake)
For those who probably object that I still look at and comment on Luann, please forgive me. I continue to look at comic strips even after I have become fed up with them, in hopes that they might recover. Earlier this week, someone on Luann commented about Collins radio gear – something I couldn’t let go by – I was once a KWM2A operator and maintainer myself! And the day I wanted to make a shout out to that commentator, Non Sequitur and Luann strips both had the same punch line!
Sigh, I miss the days of Matthew and rightwingmoron and even MorrowC before he turned into goatboy. THEY knew how to insult you. Now all that’s left is lame comebacks from NG49. BORING! LOL!
So it appears that since the “Featured Comment” returned, that I cannot see the replies to that particular comment; when pressing the reply button, I get the comments without the Featured Comment in a special place, and when hitting the reply button for that comment again, going to back to having the Featured Comment. So, no matter where that comment is, no replies can be seen. Anyone else getting that?
I look forward to the police procedural aspects that have been long dormant in the strip. I’m surprised in this day & age of CSI (& coming off eras of NYPD Blue & Law & Order), there hasn’t been a contemporary focus on that. I’m currently reading Lesley Egan’s 1962 The Borrow Alibi & it’s right up that alley— an intriguing, “real-world” mystery w/ a day-to-day police investigation POV. Still holds up over 50 years later!
I hope “good old fashion police work” isn’t a signal this storyline is going to drag on for more weeks on end … it seems to have been running for six months already. I Chief Patton was right, why is Tracy & company focusing so much time on a penny-ante robbery? The cemetery vandalism is much more serious, but you’d think a city the size of Tracy’s would have a bias or hate crime unit to handle it. Of course, it’s not unusual in Dick Tracy stories for what at first appears to be small crimes to lead to much bigger stories, & maybe the 3 Margies are the start of a trail that leads to a Brow or Pruneface or Mr. Bribery class villain, but somehow I doubt it.
Got to love today’s strip. Tracy and Sam are teaming up on the detective work to tighten the noose around the robber-vandals. I think it fair to speculate whether the Margies will go down without a fight or whether some one or more of them will eat Tracy’s lead. If Big Margie has half a brain (that’s probably way over-generous), she should be looking for an extradition-free escape destination: it’s too late to save the costume shop!
You’d think the panel 1 dialog would have been earlier in their trip back to the station. Maybe 3Margies is right around the corner from Police HQ? ;-)

If it HADN’T been a robbery at a costume venue, that guy finding the mask, etc in the dumpster would"ve ended this long ago….

“Old-fashioned detective work” – that should make some of the people here happy :)

Once Colombo had his suspect he started working on them with what he and his people found to poke at them and wear them down.

@Gweedo, Timmy says he might not be on again until after Memorial Day, due to his vacation. I nominate you to replace him in the meantime.

Coloring Error Alert: Tracy’s pants are not supposed to be yellow- they are supposed to be black.

Right now, I feel like taking up arms against GoComics, if I were able to.
That darned “Featured Comment” is back — and it has a glitch that won’t let me see the “replies” to it!

But for now, I will return to my reserved spot under the bridge. Hey, the Chicago Skyway even has a sign honoring me: “Stop Ahead, Pay Troll!”

So, the Plentys live under the Chicago Skyway? Does anyone have a link to Gould’s (or anybody’s) artwork regarding the same?

The inability to read replies to the ‘Featured Comment’ on non-mobile platforms is curtailing discussion a little bit.

There is a reason why “Law & Order” lasted so long. The police procedural was interesting. No reason it can’t be interesting here too.
