I just give ridiculous answers that aren’t the least bit true – and write them down along with the password in my little password notebook. I don’t put my real birthdate in when that’s asked for either.
If people give real answers, then they certainly are insecurity questions. Anything that can possibly be found out probably will be, so give really off-the-wall answers. And record them somewhere reasonably safe from the internet.

“Your first car?” I wonder what they’d do if I answered “Terraplane?”

Off-the-wall answers work best. I went to the prom with Nobody.

I was surprised, long before I ever heard of a website, that “mother’s maiden name” was used as security.
Your siblings, cousins, everybody in town if you live in a small one, might know the answer.
A woman working at my bank said “just make one up.”
OH!
But now, yeah, I can go through all 14 choices offered trying to pick three security questions that apply to my life….
and still end up making up one answer that I have to write down someplace so I don’t forget,

They should allow you to make up your own security questions.

You should never answer those questions with the real thing, always use bogus answers and keep notes so you can recall them when needed….
What’s your favorite food? Seattle
Name of your pet? Elephant
Mother’s maiden name? Hockey
just write ’em down.

I find it really good that they make you pick a security question.
You would soon complain if your account was hacked!
