“… but I bank elsewhere” + “… potential threat to your bank” in the same balloon feels like redundant word usage to my ear, might’ve replaced one of those with a different word or term.
Maybe it’s a production mistake, but I like it so much better in black-and-white. The color just obscures fine art. Sunday is different, because on Sunday it’s colored by the actual artist.
“Mr. Hickman, I’m just here to warn you that a dangerous federal criminal and habitual bank robber that I let run free months ago may or may not be targeting your bank to be robbed. However, I won’t do anything about it since it’s not my jurisdiction… I’m just letting you know ahead of time that, when you DO get robbed.. don’t come crying to me for any help. By the way.. when you see him, tell Blackjack I said hi and thanks for not harming my daughter-in-law during the last bank robbery I did nothing about, or hurting her parents at the one before that. I will see myself out… oooh! Mind if I take this pen with me? And can I get a lollipop while I’m at it too? Thanks!”
Why didn’t Tracy call up a reporter & say BlackJack was going to be hitting this bank next. Then today’s strip could show Hickman reading in today’s paper a front page article with the big headline announcing the news.
A personal visit from the ominous (because dark) Chief of Detectives is ostensibly to warn Hickman of the potential threat to Fleischer Savings & Loan Bank. But, the verbal sparring between the two not withstanding, I think (hope) that Hickman realizes there is a subtext to Tracy’s friendly visit, and that is that Fleischer is under scrutiny itself. Maybe it’s time for Mr. Hickman to convene a meeting of the Board of Directors to reconsider their recent action regarding pensions. But on the other hand, if Blackjack is “on the way” already, it may be too late for that. Know any friendly FBI Field Office agents (bank robbery being a federal offense), or any who might fly in from D.C., Hickman?

Here we go again, Det. Tracy helping a criminal. I mean the bank, not Black Jack. He is warning them to beef up security.

The smiling Hickman pretending that Tracy must be here as a potential customer is not fooling DT.

Why do I get the impression that only one architect designs all the banks in that town?
