I love these because they are such real cat type cats. The older long strips? Where can they be seen? Maybe the book is out?

The strip image is not loading, I was not getting the image yesterday too, but today I was able to see yesterday’s strip, but today’s strip is not opening, same goes for “Peanuts” strip too, rest are opening

I’ve seen this before. Cat is in a high place, meowing piteously. Human comes along, perhaps gets a ladder or something to stand on, reaches up to rescue cat. Cat hops down by its own route, totally without human help. Then says “Nyaah nyaa nya nyaah nya” to human. Human probably falls off ladder.

Of course Elvis isn’t stuck! He’s just planning his next move. ;)

There’s so much to love. Today, I’m loving the chyrons.

When I was a kid, there was a very young cat, barely more than a kitten, that fled from a neighborhood dog by climbing up a pine tree in our backyard. He was about twenty feet up, perched on a limb, scared to climb down, and wailing pitifully. We thought that he’d eventually figure out how to climb down, but the next morning he was still here, still crying. My dad came up with a rescue plan. He had my brother and I stand below the limb holding a cast-net in the same posture as firefighters used to hold the old style Browder Life Nets. He had nailed a plastic cup to the end of a long pole, put milk in it, and lifted it up to the cat. As the cat sniffed at it and moved toward it, he moved so that the cat had to crawl farther out on the limb to reach the milk. When it was far out on a thin edge of the limb, he moved quickly to step back and smack the branch BEHIND the cat with the pole. The cat fell, we caught him in the “safety net,” and he instantly bounded out and sped away. I don’t know when he stopped running, but we never saw him again.

Yum Yum has pulled the same stunt as Elvis. A wailing Siamese can put some ambulance sirens to shame.

Georgia, I saw on Facebook that you are signing papers on a new home. Congratulations!

My old Tom cat used to get on the fridge by jumping, and then pulling himself up. Old age caught up with him. The little guy ended up with a hernia!!!! That’s what the vet said. We did rearrange things so that he couldn’t do his “trick” any more.

Our kitten Shadow climbed a tree in the neighbor’s yard many years ago. He was about 15 feet up and crying piteously. My son, who was about 10 at the time was almost as distraught. So we decided to go get a ladder and see if we could get him down. As we were walking back around the house to go get the ladder, all of a sudden a furry black streak flew past us on the ground and Shadow was waiting for us at the garage door. He evidently decided that not having an audience made the tree crying no fun.

Wow Puck handling 2 interviews at the same time. That surely puts him in the lead for the FEEMY (feline emmy) award this year!

If this goes on another day or two, Burt is REALLY gonna have fun with the crawl.

We had a cat many years ago who was quite thin and small. We had twelve foot (I think) ceilings on the first floor, and my father had his stereo speakers mounted on the living room wall, with the tops about a foot below the ceiling. This cat would get to her favorite perch by leaping first from a cabinet to the nearest door sill, from there to the nearest speaker, and from there to the far speaker. She’d reverse the order to get down. Never got stuck, although she did have to give it up when she got old. She was one of two we had that lived into her twenties.

I have gotten cats down from trees using a ladder. As I mentioned yesterday, that old line about no skeletons of cats in trees is kind of silly. If they die up there, presumably the body eventually falls down. But I never saw one of our cats get stuck on top of anything in the house, certainly nothing as paltry as a refrigerator.

Our cat has a Rapunzel complex. When my partner is around, she will sometimes climb a door and then declare loudly that she is stuck and needs to be lifted down. However, when he’s out she’s sometimes climbed the very same door and got down perfectly fine on her own without making a peep. She just likes having him rescue her.

I caught a feral kitten back in May and added her to my family. She gets up onto places that I would never have thought she would (and some I wouldn’t have thought she could). She gets down by herself though.

Jingle Belle Katt often jumps to the counter, then to the top of the refrigerator, then tries to open the cabinets over the fridge to see if there’s anything in there of value to a cat. (There never is, but she always has to check). This generally earns her a drenching from the DEADLY BOTTLE 0’ SQUIRT whereupon she yowls protest, goes fridge-to-counter-to floor and runs away to lick her dampened pride…

Elvis doesn’t seem to have the option of a kitchen counter, though. Maybe they should bring in a tall cat tree, put it beside the fridge, then leave him alone to figure things out…

We have to feed our cat atop the refrigerator to keep the food away from the dog-thing.
