Heck, does the widow like Rufus?

Rufus would be as welcome as The Plague if he came around my household with a basket of cats! I think he’d be received with more kindness if he came over with a basket of pork chops,

You do NOT give someone the “gift” of a pet unless you know they want one.

The least thing they need is cats and since Rufus doesn’t have his cats spayed and neutered they keep churning out so many kittens. One cat would be enough.

Without Joel to look after him, Rufus is a dufus. Elam should come in and save the day. And then, bring Joel back into the story to straighten things out.

If the kids get bored they can always put the kittens in a sack and drop them in the river.

Is that the same basket Skeezik was found in?

I believe that that should be ‘prezactly’ (precisely + exactly).
