It’s good when someone who keeps postponing a checkup finally goes, and learns that there is something that can still be corrected. So many parents (usually mothers, but dads, too) put off those checkups because there’s always someone else to take care of. It’s not being selfish to take care of your health…

“John, do you think I nag you a lot?”“Nope. I think that you love me a lot.”

Way to go John!! That’s a pretty good answer for that question that I would put in the category of “questions from wives that husbands shouldn’t try to answer” like:

    1. Does this dress make me look fat?

    2. If I die, how much time would you mourn me before you moved on?

    3. Which of my friends do you find most attractive?

    4. Do you really enjoy watching football more than spending time with me?

    5. Do you think I’m right? Or do you think your mother is right?

The brain is 50% cholesterol by weight. It’s a neuro-protective molecule. Find out what’s causing the LDL cholesterol to be high, not just lower it. When it’s elevated, it may be telling you that something is attacking the nerves and the body is trying to protect the brain. It may be telling you that something is attacking the lining of the coronary arteries. Check for pathogens such as H.pylori (it can get into the coronary arteries and create holes; the body then uses cholesterol to patch the holes).

If there’s not enough cholesterol, one cannot make hormones and repair the brain. (Oftentimes, experiencing chronically low libido, low-grade depression and insomnia are partly due to the meds that lower cholesterol.) High levels don’t necessarily increase the risk of dying from a heart attack; it’s the oxidation of the cholesterol that’s the problem. Reduce the causes of the oxidation and inflammation. (Just my $.02 : )

They don’t say what his ratio is. If his total is high but he has great HDL and moderate LDL and good triglycerides, then the total number is genetic and nothing needs to be done. A lot of doctors are finally coming around to this belief nowadays. It’s not about the total number. But probably when this comic was written, it was still all about the total number.

Now time for her to go to the doctor. She nags and screeches so much that Elly’s blood pressure is through the roof.

Wasn’t there a strip where John is in the doctor’s office and the doctor remarks to John it is not everyday his dentist comes in for a checkup. What happened to that strip?

She nags so she can keep him around a little longer. She wants him to see his grandchildren. So not all nagging is bad nagging.
