I’m almost compelled to think of the Neil Diamond duet with Barbra Streisand “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Anymore.”

I wonder if even the flowers would find Lucy too crabby?

This strip was obviously a three-panel gag, but Schulz made it work with four panels because at this point he was still required by the syndicate to use four panels for the daily strips.

Another bowl of “Crab Bisque” please.

If I was in the strip, I’d tell Lucy: “You’re not pretty, you’re a jerk!”

“Because I’m six years old (or is it eight?) and flowers are expensive. Also, I don’t like you.”

So, did anyone identify what Schroeder is playing?

I like Lucy’s come back. Nothing fazes her.

The flowers would wilt if Lucy looked at them.
