Most of the wealth is being generated by lending money. That’s what investment is. So the rich are basically money lenders. They don’t do anything that benefits society as a while, rather they milk it dry for their own excessive accumulation of wealth.
WhiteHeron, your view of socialism is biased and simplistic. It’s not freeloaders on one side and those bearing the burden on the other. Everyone contributes to some degree and everyone benefits. For example, some European countries provide universal health care, substantial unemployment benefits, and free day care, among other things, all of which may be useful to any citizen at some point in their lives. Of course some people will end up contributing more than others, and some will end up benefiting more than others. But while you may think that isn’t “fair”, it’s also not fair that some people in our capitalist society benefit from unearned advantages due to being born into more fortunate circumstances. So neither society is totally fair, but the democratic socialist one at least comes closer to achieving an equitable society where everyone is adequately taken care of.

Here’s another idea: Just tell Frazz that it’s a new form of cross-training.

Socialism isn’t any better than capitalism…unless you’re the freeloader.

But of course the “borrowed” money will eventually have to be paid back. Of course with government, it’ll be paid back by a different generation.

And make sure the bank will punish you if you are not borrowing by downgrading your score.

There are 3 ways to get something done: do it yourself, hire someone to do it, or forbid your kids to do it.
