This is a big part of the race problem in this country. Many people of color are just that sensitive over nothing. This is not a good strip to run. I’m very disappointed in you Mr. Bentley.
Have to wonder how long it will be before things REALLY explode. I can understand minorities being unhappy with things. But do they understand there a LOT of silent “pale faces” who are getting more and more unhappy with stuff like defacing statues and memorials? Minor thing, sure, but it still rankles. Keep it up and bigotry may stage a come back.
As a kid, before I knew better, I called a black girl in school an insult that started with “n.” Things were pretty tense until I repeated what I had said at her request. It was a bit later I learned what she might have thought I’d said… and that she was aware of it and knew to be offended by it at such a young age was sad.
I used this strip to highlight an argument I was making about how even good people can, under certain circumstances, have knee-jerk reactions to things. A “progressive” immediately condemned myself, Bentley, and this entire strip as “racist”. Yeah.
