Good morning Vista Bill and all you settling down types and even those who want to always do that just one more scam/robbery to make their life complete.
The implications (subtext, if you prefer that term) of today’s strip go far beyond just an emotional moment, beyond emotion and beyond the moment. This is a classic Establishment of Conflict between the adoptive siblings, the loving sister and the glib professional con-artist brother. Sprocket is focussed on “settling down” and getting out of the rackets. She wants a life and not just running from one crime scene and/or jail term to another. Silver, never a deep thinker, cannot see any farther than “today” and is content with his life, such as it is; he probably isn’t even very aware, if at all, of his dependency on Sprocket. This is the tip-of-the-iceberg of a falling-out between the two, either actively (one leaves the other, deliberately) or passively (though inaction by one, some harm comes to the other).
The Nitrate Saga will not end with “they lived happily ever after.”

Silver is not going to give up the scam game easily … if at all.
Fall has suddenly come to Tracyland while we’ve been looking in on other happenings.

What can he do if all he knows is criminal? Maybe he doesn’t want to try to see if any of it can go legit.

I think she really loves him! Hate to see that, though.

If all he knows is Scamming, he could be a litigation Attorney or Used Car salesman…

Since they are both wanted by the cops as prison escapees, they had better stay on the run and keep a low profile.

DT always great. But…..but just don’t seem to have the “atmospere” (including some really bad art work at times) that I enjoyed in 1950’s comic books.

If the only thing you know is scamming, Silver, then there’s an obvious second career for you: politics!

They could settle down and listen to records — Sounds like he’s getting the diamond needle……

Give Joe & Mike credit, they can make a strip about an emotional moment just as compelling as an acton strip.
