In the IDW reprint Dick Tracy collection, there is a story about how Chester Gould came running downstairs to his family from his upstairs drawing room, when he first conceived of this character. He thought the idea of naming him “B. O.” was knee-slapping hilarious!
Reminds me of a soap that used a foghorn to say B O. It was originally a pink bar Wonder if they still make it. That was when people used soap not body wash. That sound like something one would use to clean their car.

The “B. O.” stands for “body odor”, but he seems to be oblivious about that.
