Your second sentence is more or less the defining characteristic of all true puns. It’s not enough just to substitute a sound-alike word or phrase or to juxtapose words or phrases that sound alike.

I’m just glad there wasn’t a Punch and Judy show at the end…or one of Lio’s bullies punching every kid who was dumb enough to read the sign.
