“It’s more than a camera, it’s almost alive! It’s only nineteen dollars and ninety-five! Swing it up! It says “yes”! Take the shot! Count it down! Zip it off!" It was great fun til I went to buy a replacement film cartridge…
I switched to DuckDuckGo years ago and would also highly recommend Ublock Origin and NoScript with the Palemoon browser to those not already using them.
I used Firefox for ages but they started trying way too hard to be just like Chrome. If I wanted to use Chrome I wouldn’t have been using Firefox. They also started allowing Google direct access (search your about:config page). I used ABP (along with NoScript) pretty much from the time I started with Firefox. Switched to Ublock when ABP started selling access to “select” advertisers.
Oddly I never get any ads related to anything I have looked at or have any interest in. Right now I am getting ads for men’s leather jackets on one side and children’s toys on the other. I never look at anything about clothes online (and rarely in real life) and definitely not men’s clothing nor do I look at toys at all.
I am the sole user of this computer – it is an OLD laptop I use in the kitchen and husband swears at it when I use it as it is so slow, so it is not that someone else looked at anything related to the ads.
Right now I am also getting political ads for someone from someplace not near where I am.
I am always amazed when people say the ads are related to what they look at – mine are not.

What’s weirder is when you just talk about something and ads show up….

Sounds like someone needs a good ad blocking and an antivirus/malware/spyware protection program(s)

Once I was looking for a new halter for my horse. Don’t google “leather halter.”

Were it not for Google, I would not have corresponded with all these friendly Russian ladies. I didn’t need that money anyway…
