When I was in college and came home for the holidays, I’d have at least one night, after my parents had gone to bed, where I’d turn out all except the Christmas tree lights and sit to watch them for several minutes.
I put up a small tree tonight on a buffet and decorated while the cats were watching. There are lots of silvery, shiny things on it and later in the evening when I looked over, Spencer was sitting on the table staring at it for the longest time. I’m amazed and thankful he didn’t jump on it. Yet.
Yes. She took that thing with her all over the states, back to our home in Alaska, and back out again. It must have been awkward at times, because the only way in and out of our home town is by boat or plane.
I will admit that I do enjoy sitting staring at the Christmas lights on the tree when my regular lamps go off (they’re on timers for convenience) The boys often sit and stare at them too. Peace in stillness indeed :)
I love panel 5—stars are ideal! One of my favourite pastimes is stargazing on a clear night. Nothing is more mesmerising than a sky lit up with a starfield and the Milky Way spread out like a gauze in between the stars.
Well, Midnight Louie won the war. After over two weeks of reassembling the tree on a daily basis (got lights on for one day and had to remove them – no ornaments at all), the day I found the entire tree in pieces all over the living room I gave up. Gathered the pieces, swept the floor and stuffed everything back in the box. Used twist ties to anchor a Decorative Cone, so the tag says, to the top of the wire crate after stuffing a string of lights inside it. They have ignored it. But, I sadly miss the big tree with lights in the evenings. Maybe next year.
Just a thought maybe for next year. I am perusing a seed catalog & see a net one can put over a tree to keep the birds out. Maybe get one for a Christmas tree?
Or maybe end up with a kitty happily trapped INSIDE the net. . . . hmmmmmmm. >^.,.^<
I see the notifications feature has goofed up. I keep getting the same notifications again and again. The only way I can see if there’s any replies is to come back and check the strips.
This strip is the most beautiful work of art I have ever seen in a comic strip. Just amazing. Thank you so much, Georgia. Peace to you and the good boys.
We watched Holiday Inn last night and the tree was the only light source. Just perfect. White Christmas next Friday, even more perfect. And NO ’It’s a Wonderful Life."
I especially love the sky background in panel 5—notice how Georgia has painted it in the colors we see in telescope photos of nebulae? So much imagination!
Georgia has a wonderful command of watercolor. I am continually astonished at how much atmosphere and detail she achieves in such a restricted format. As several have noted, this strip in particular is gorgeous!
Asking for kind thoughts & prayers. Half of my face is badly swollen from an infection.Seeing a doctor ASAP Monday. Lots of pain & getting worse. Love to you all! >^.,.^<

Lupin and candles are not a peaceful combination.

Aw, a little reference to Lupin’s deafness, which is why there is peace in the stillness. And the entire strip is beautifully painted.

We did not put up a tree this year (4 month old kitten.) I miss the evening by the lights the most.

As usual, Georgia, you have done a strip which touches my heart deeply. A happy Sunday to you and to my fellow BCN orbsters.
