Winter traps – I love it! When I worked in process piping design, we’d joke about steam traps. “Well, this is a 600# steam trap, so we’re hoping to bag ourselves a hefty 600# steam tonight!”
No snow here. I have a porch just for cats. Snow blows in and accumulates. The Maine Coons love it. They roll around in the snow and refuse to come in.
Georgia just posted this over at the BCN website "We go now live to BREAKING CAT NEWS and the start of the BCN Christmas special!!!I am so incredibly excited to share this Christmas special in newspapers. To fit the entire story in, I had to “set it up” a few days before December, starting today. I hope so much that everyone will enjoy it, and I appreciate all of the care that long time readers have already taken not to spoil it for new readers! This might be a month to avoid the comments, if you want to be surprised! This is one of my absolute favorite stories to tell, and I’m so happy to have the chance to share it in newspapers and here with you one more time!"
Oh, man. I got to binge this in the archives when I read it the first time and can’t imagine reading it spread out as originally posted. I foresee some fun in the comments. gets out the tissue supply
The last time we had snow where I live (San Francisco Bay Area), my children were toddlers. (They’re now forty-somethings and have kids of their own.) And that was just a light dusting on the lawn. Snow, for us, is something you get into the car and drive two hundred and fifty miles east into the Sierras to see.

For those who haven’t read this arc before, fair warning without spoilers, keep Kleenex readily available. You’ll need it.

I never thought of a snow globe as being a “winter trap,” but I’ll do so from now on. What a great description!
