Joe: What if that ribbon symbolizes something you're actually opposed to, Bob? Bob: Hey, I'm a lawyer... feigning interest is what I do for a living. As long as it makes babes think I'm a caring a sensitive hunk of man, what do I care what it stands for... Man: Hey, I just had to come over and meet you! Your public display in support of us vertically challenged white supremacists is bold, courageous and, I might add, rather sexy. Joe: Well... I suppose that could be a babe under the hood. Bob: Oh, shut up...

… and like his sensitivity, the ribbon is gone!

Even amoral lawyers have practical limits!

“Hunk of man”? I think of him more as a blob of goo.

Hey wait! A white supremacist would hate anyone who uses “politically correct” language like “vertically challenged.” Something is amiss, here.

After seeing that in the strip, I know there’s going to be a lot of postings by the end of the day!

@cdward: Much of the time, “Politically Correct” speech is not so much about not using language that others find insulting as it is about ensuring that language that you find insulting isn’t used.

So the difference between a lawyer and an actor is …?
js305 about 14 years ago
OK, this is not too long but it’s a true story, and it’s along the lines of this strip:
I work at a place that sells tools and related items. I saw that we could get those suspenders that hold up tool belts and such so I ordered some to sell. They were colorful with rainbow stripes. Didn’t sell a single set to anyone. Finally, someone came in and complimented us on supporting the gay movement…How was I supposed to know? Still haven’t sold a pair yet.

Umm, Wiley…?
We know Flo was at Woodstock, and a free-spirit sort.
So every time I look at Bob, I wonder –
Did she have a fling with Nixon?

Rainbow suspenders supports the gay movement? How did that ever get started? Better still, when? I love my country, but we are getting screwy! Rainbow suspenders, what the f**k!

I haven’t wondered about Rainbow Paint or Rainbow Candies, but I just have to question Rainbow Showers.

Shazbot! I haven’t heard of “full on double rainbow” suspenders since the 80’s. Cover them in duct tape - they’ll sell.
aerwalt about 14 years ago
I have those suspenders. Never thought that. Never got a comment about them.

Aren’t those the suspenders Robin Williams wore in Mork and Mindy?
Trebor39 about 14 years ago
Didn’t take Bob long to get rid of the ribbon.

@ses1066: the pay and the damage they can do to society. And I’ve yet to meet a lawyer doing comedy.

Nanoo nanoo!
Anyway… you can kind of understand the vertically challenged white supremacist liking the Klan uniform. The pointy hat has to add at least 30% to their height!
Imagine this group in a modern remake of “Wizard of Oz.”
“We represent the white skinhead klan, The white skinhead klan, The white skinhead klan, And on behalf of the white skinhead klan, We’d like to kick you out of Munchkin Land.”

My uncle always wore rainbow suspenders – I’m pretty sure they didn’t mean anything! (He was married twice, both times to women…) He was just a colourful guy!!

Love the red border. A defining moment for good ole Bob.
alan.gurka about 14 years ago
I have a pair of suspenders like that. Never thought about it like that, but then, I bought them over 30 years ago and hardly wore them. Only because I don’t fit into the lederhosen that I bought them for.

In the early years of this talk show on [Then All-News] CNN, Larry King himself wore suspenders.
