Never thought Mr. Rod as a cubano (I would’ve thought Spaniard when escaping Francisco Franco). In the meantime, thank goodness Fidel Castro died last year.
I went through this. I had been visiting some friends in Dallas, Texas in 1968. The Dallas Police pulled me over. It was apparently because of my brown skin and straight black hair. My license and registration had a non-Spanish name on them, even though I was speaking straight English without any trace of a Spanish accent. I was held in detention, until I was finally verified as having the name that was on my license and registration. They had a very hard time being convinced that Oklahoma Indians usually had non-Spanish names.
tips from concerned citizens my *. try tips from emboldened cheeto supporters who now see their prejudiced views for any non-white as okay. I am glad to see Mr. Rod give it to immigration, I just hope it doesn’t back fire.
I heard a news story where a Hispanic woman voted for Trump and in gratitude they deported her husband!! I will never understand people like this. White Republicans hate you, truly.
It’s interesting how a lotta good people can make one innocent decision after another and turn out something so evil. We are moving in that direction but all in the name of freedom.
Thank you for using this format for showing what other US citizens experience. Concise, well-stated, and always thoughtful, this is a good venue for making people think harder about these issues.
Just one problem. Rod had to escape from Cuba. Here, people are coming in illegally. And we have laws against that. Cantu & Castellanos frankly sound like MSNBC. President Trump was elected to build a wall to keep illegals out so that or legal immigration system can work.
No WESTNYC it is not OK, however it does show just how far behind the rest of the world the United States is. A lot of people like to call us the Greatest Country in the world, well we aren’t, not anymore. We’re falling further and further behind in so many ways and are well on our way to becoming a failed state like Somalia.
Dear Sirs: I am a daily reader of the “Baldo” comic strip in the Orlando Sentinel. I read your strip and others as an escape from politics and political propaganda, so I do not appreciate the fact that over the last few weeks or months there has been a number of your comics that have had political/propaganda views in them. I wish you would stop it. You’re ruining my “funnies” experience. There is plenty of that on the editorial pages….thank you.
Donald John Trump, even before his entry into the carnival side show known as the Republican Party and becoming a standout even among the freaks and other oddities running for the brass ring of the presidency, was known for being a pathological liar, a misogynist, a racist, a bigot and a clinical narcissist. By one “fact-checking” website, since being elected to a post he was and is and never WILL be qualified to hold, he has told, on average, 5.5 lies and distortions a day each and every day of his ‘so-called’ presidency! It is going to take decades to repair the damage he and his fellow idiots and morons will have done to America and its structure, both internally and within the world community, by the time we’ll be rid of the vermin loosed upon us by the Republican Party, in its death throes!
Mr. Cantu and Mr. Castellanos: I have loved Baldo from the beginning and try to never miss an episode. I love how you handle the family and their concerns and how, over time, they have evolved into true, well-rounded people that everyone can relate to on one level or another. Please keep up the good work. I hope you never retire because I would miss this cartoon very much.

This may be a comic but it is a powerful message. Hope Mr. Rod doesn’t get arrested being an illegal alien

The same could be said of neighbors in Nazi Germany. or ANY totalitarian state. This is where we are headed, if not already there.

But since everyone had ‘healthcare’ in Cuba, Castro’s repression was OK right ?

Good strip. Well presented. We agree (for a change).

Given the unfair practice of gerrymandering in this country the term “duly elected” is highly suspect.
