Keep them long enough and they become collectors items. Especially if the brewery has gone out of business. PS “long enough” is generally considered to be at least 50 years
I recycle all mine except for the six pack from Super Bowl 50 and one from Daytona 500! We do not pay deposit in Nebraska so no returns but I do remember when beer bottles had a deposit charge/refund.
I can sympathize with Andy. When I was a young lad, my brother and I would find pop bottles (they were glass then) that had a two penny deposit. When we did find one, we would clean it out and go to the neighborhood grocer and get a couple of pieces of penny candy. Used to be you paid a deposit to ensure the bottle was returned for refilling at the soda pop plant (or brewery) and you didn’t see much litter partly for that reason. When they switched to single use bottles, the trash along roadsides increased tremendously.
I have three (3) un-opened cans of Schlitz Light Beer, and one (1) un-opened can of Milwaukee’s Best Light. Why I kept them, don’t know! For posterity I guess. Cans do not have any kind of date on them, they do have ID numbers such as S 05 D 02 2 for one of my Schlitz cans. I searched, but can not find the date when Schlitz Light wa discontinued. Just to post something on beer.

Try the recycling centre, Andrew. You’re for sure to get a few pennies’ worth.

One man’s trash may be another man’s treasure, but Andy ‘s trash is everybody’s trash

Sell em’ on Ebay. I’m sure they will be of some use to somebody.
Why not? I’m sure a lot of people sell total rubbish on Ebay.

I’m sure somebody will regard them as “art” and give Andy a few quid for them.

The sign on the wall should read, “Junk bought – Antiques Sold”.

I wonder if Andy is aware that he could make money from recycling those cans.
