I bought Lucky Charms for my girls – once. They didn’t like them at all. A little friend spent the night and when I asked her what she wanted for breakfast she told me she loved LCs. Great! But then all she did was eat the marshmallows and leave the rest.
If you eat all of the marshmallows out of a box of Lucky Charms these days, what do you have left? With all the different colored marshmallow shapes they’ve added over the years you’d be “lucky” to have 1/4 of a box of actual cereal!
When I was a kid, all the cold cereal Ma would buy was either Post toasties or Cornflakes. The rest was too expensive. Very seldom could we get her to buy anything else.
About 15 years ago, I had a cat throw up something and it kind of looked like chewed-up Lucky Charms, and even vaguely smelled like them, but much more putrid. I have not been able to eat them since.
Not quite the same as walking 5 miles to school in 2 feet of snow and they didn’t sell generic cereal, let along in plastic bags, 50-60 years ago when Grandma was a kid.

I’m not much into Lucky Charms; the marshmallows taste kind of stale.

That’s cause she buys the sawdust kind for him.

I’ve got a picture on my phone of a box of cereal at the dollar store. The brand is actually “High-Fiber Twigs”. I kid you not.

My ex used to insist on buying those plastic bags full of sawdust for our kids. That was 50 years ago and they still have nightmares about it.

I make my own cereal from oats, various nuts, seeds, dried fruit….. takes a while but I know what goes into it and it lasts well over a month.
