At my first job in NYC, my desk was next to a window that overlooked 34th St. from the 2nd floor of the Empire State Building. Many times, I have seen the training sessions of young pickpockets, with the older guys teaching the boys how to match the target’s pace, how to nudge them to distract them, etc. Everyone is an apprentice in the beginning.
I’m assuming becoming one with the chime is to sneak around noiselessly, so wouldn’t he be a mime then? A chime mime…. there’s a joke in there somewhere.
