Salesman work on “commission”. Lawyers work on “contingency”. (Sometimes.)

    Wouldn’t it be ‘copywriting’ the letters B – F?

That is something that never occurred to me in my years in primary school. And years and years…

Wow! No political comments? I’m impressed (and probably optimistic).

That’s why Hawaiian kids are so smart. There’s no B, C, D or F in the Hawaiian language.

Before I come off too much as Mister Moral, here, let’s acknowledge that there’s a big, thick line in red Sharpie ink (one of the most permanent substances known to man) between wanting something for nothing and wanting, as Todd Snider wrote so perfectly in his song “Easy Money,” the most you can possibly get for the least you can possibly do. There’s greed, and there’s efficiency.

You know I love my endurance sports. And you probably know I prefer doing those sports myself, however badly, to watching other people do any sports, however well. But that’s just a preference, not an absolute. I love watching someone do something well, and when I watch someone who travels under their own power well, what impresses me most is just how unimpressive they look at first blush. The very fastest distance athletes look like they’re positively loafing while going twice as fast as the rest of us can go flat out. Raw power will get you through the tractor pull, but efficiency will get you around the world. Fast.

Waste not, want not, if you want to listen to aphorisms in your grandparents’ voice. I’d still recommend getting the most you can possibly get for the least you can possibly do in Todd Snider’s voice.

What’s Frazz wearing? A Robin T-shirt? I can’t believe that no one mentioned that in the last 5 years! Usually, his T-shirt gets noticed right away.

And have all Bs (or Cs) through F assigned to you? Your average must already be quite bad if that meant an improvement.
