off the subject…but it just came to me. Why do we type/write contractions e.g. haven’t,wasn’t etc. when (it’s) just as easy to type/write an “o” as it is an ’ ?
Contractions are alright when used for quoting speech but not necessary in normal typed text, doing so is a sign of laziness. I blame newspapers for the destruction of the English language. In order save the cost of ink, they would eliminate punctuation marks such as the Oxford comma, Christmas became Xmas, et al.
