Life without Parole is cheaper than the Death Penalty, and retains the possibility of the wrongfully-convicted being released. I don’t lose much sleep over the “monsters” who are executed, but the long list of people who’ve been killed by the state(s) who’ve later turned out to be innocent is argument enough to abolish the death penalty. How many innocents are you willing to execute to ensure than no guilty people are spared?

Great response fritz! appreciate your come back. However, I know of no criminal in California who was executed and found innocent after the fact. My reality of this goes back to Caryl W Chessman to Clarence R Allen, all vicious sadistic animals. And I expect the state to fulfill its legal responsibility and take the life of Albert G Brown of Riverside County. BUT I’m sure a judge will step in and save this piece of krap. I hurt for the victims of these animals. And there are more innocent victims than innocent criminals that were executed.
That’s the beauty of armed, law-abiding citizens. When they shoot the attacker, there is no doubt that they got the guilty person. Also saves on prison, legal expenses and prevents repeat offenders.
What was interesting about Chessman is he never killed anyone or was involved in any killing, but was still executed by California in 1960, due to the interpretation of the “Little Lindburgh” law by the court (and the jury).
Also interesting is worldisacomic’s statement “And there are more innocent victims than innocent criminals that were executed”. Does that mean it’s OK to execute “innocent criminals” as long as we execute fewer innocents than there are victims? This confuses me…
