@bilan: I don’t shop there, but I guess they think it is tres moderne. Or as we used to say in the ‘olde days’, really cool. Wonder if the lines are any shorter or move any faster.
I always reminded my kids when they were learning to drive that distracted driving refers to anything that takes your eyes off the road; changing the channel on the radio, even adjusting the temperature in the car. And car manufacturers are partly at fault. Back in the day, it was much simpler to change the radio or heat/cool in a car. Now you have to be precise.
The Mythbuster guys did an experiment to find out whether it was having the phone in your hand that was the problem or just having something other than your driving on your mind. It turned out that the hands-free phone (where you’re basically just talking and listening to your car) was just as likely to lead to mistakes as one you had to hold and fiddle with while driving with one hand. They admitted to being surprised by the result, but it’s been confirmed by additional studies. That’s why they run the experiments.

Wait! Didn’t Mrs. Olsen break her leg a few years ago knocking one of the kids out of the way of a distracted driver???? And use language more colorful than a thousand rainbows to tell said driver what she thought of them?

Just blame Starbucks. After all, you need your phone to order coffee.
In the olde days, that would not have made sense.

Mrs. Olsen likes to live more dangerously than we suspected.
