Hope it wasn’t one of the new phones. If it was, the screen is now cracked. Maybe, now that aunt Fritzi is single again, she might meet some guy, maybe with the name of, oh, maybe, Phil?
I have a feeling this may be like Jerry Scott’s Nancy where Aunt Fritzi only appears in voice over. I could be wrong on that though. I was wrong once in 1987, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
Why the continued speculation about Aunt Fritzi? Jaimes clarified this issue in the NYT article published earlier in the week: “I was asked by my editors to hold off on using Fritzi for the first four weeks, since the last run ended with her getting married and she’s going to be single again in my run.”
I’d love to see Nance take an accidental selfie.(And I’d love to see that selfie too!)I wonder if she was facebooking with Sluggo.very funny. good job O.
Sine the moderator is here (or nearby?) I do have a question. The skin tones are much better now. So why use the jaundiced Nancy for the new avatar for this strip?
Okay, that’s it for me. I can’t for the life of me understand what you people see in OJ’s art or writing. (Though 3 strips so far HAVE had good gags). So, unlike the anti-(Gil)christ contingent, rather than hang around and stew about the situation for 20 years, I now depart to let all of you who do enjoy this kind of thing enjoy it with my blessing. As C.S. Lewis almost said, there are plenty of other comics for me to read!
Count me in the pro-Nancy group. People grousing about the modern references in the new Nancy must not be fans of current-era Blondie either. Keep up the good work Ms. Jaimes!
Honestly, while some of the jokes in these new Nancy are funny, the modern references are where I have a small problem. The Guy Gilchrist-era, while it did have some modern references through it’s run, didn’t have to rely on these types of jokes and instead just let the characters be themselves and, as such, the jokes came naturally while here the characters seem secondary to the modern day references (I hope that makes sense).
The joke is weak but what stands out is the entire strip using the same panel today. Sign of a lazy or uninspired cartoonist or an acceptable form of the art of the comic strip?

Ha! Funny today (IMO). Kind of reminds me of my childhood, only it was usually a comic book…

Don’t tell me Fritzi has been relegated to the off-panel world of the Peanuts characters’ parents…

I just found out that Ms. Olivia Jaimes took over this classic strip, and I’m back reading it again. Job well done, Ms. Jaimes.

This is dumb. And I love it.

I don’t mind the tech-based gags, but there shouldn’t be quite so many crammed together. Maybe a bit more of a mix of types of gags?

I heard a rumor that if you stare intently at the black areas of the first frame in today’s strip you will see a line image of Aunt Fritzi.

Except for the horns and fangs, she looks friendly enough.
