The only way to eat them is stale. I bought a couple of boxes on clearance after Easter and slit the cellophane. They should be just about ready to eat now.
Did you know Peeps are translucent? I saw a demo on combustion at our Science Center many years ago where the demonstrator impaled a Peep on a sparkler, and when it burned through you could see the light from inside. Also, you know how some plastics, when lit on fire, drop in whizzing, flaming gobs? Peeps do that too. “Believe in it? I’ve seen it done!”

They’re actually better stale.

Sugary confections keep forever. Like people who keep a piece of their wedding cakes. Some of that stuff often outlives the marriages…

It’s gross if she found it in the street, or under a couch cushion…. maybe in the bottom of her purse.
But if it was wrapped, especially still hiding in its native habitat…
a clean, pastel basket, preferably one lined with enough synthetic “grass” to keep the Peeps and chocolate bunnies feeling safe and comfortable…
with a supply of clean fresh jellybeans for them to eat…It’s just a silly Easter treat.
It may not be to your taste, you two snobs…
and it may not be exactly health food…
in fact, we know it’s not good for us… and shouldn’t be a basic part of our daily diet.
But it’s not “gross”, and it’s not fatal.
As an annual treat, in moderation, it’s fun, it’s tasty, and it’s not going to hurt you if I eat one…I like you, Frazz….but you could be modelling both silliness and compassion….
not joining in when such a knowing child is mocking her poor, unenlightened mother.
