Cute, but totally unrealistic. Nobody let’s go of their cell phone long enough for somebody else to place it on the table.

I was watching a news report from an ice cream place and behind the reporter everyone was on their phones.

If you eat with your right hand, it goes on the left. If you eat with your left, it goes on the right. Simple.

Gotta go with AJR58; in a basket by the front door, or the vehicle you arrived in !!!

A cell phone is covered in germs. I never put mine on the dining table.

Rule in the Linguist household: NO CELLPHONES (or any other electronic devices ) AT THE DINING ROOM TABLE !!

My esposa maravillosa was the biggest offender, but now dutifully turns her phone off at mealtimes and makes sure everyone else abides by the rule.

Also, the television is Turned OFF until after meals are finished – much to the dismay of the grandkids !

We now, actually have enjoyable dining conversations.

I’ve read of a restaurant game where everybody places their phone face down in the middle of the table, and first to answer theirs pays for everybody. At home maybe the first could do the dishes.
