@Wolf Mix, A poll does not ask a question about someone else. also third is normal. Plus polls are dumb. please stop. (I am commenting down here and not up there because I do not want his comment to get featured.
Air conditioning in a school was considered a luxury until at least the 80’s. It may have existed in some rich suburbs, but I never had a classroom with it, and I retired in 2000. The days when it got too hot to concentrate, kids and teachers just went through the motions, little was actually accomplished compared to a day when it was comfortable. The offices where the administration worked were air conditioned. I suspect if they hadn’t been, the whole building would have been decades earlier.
standing in the corner? That’s considered demeaning and thus causes mental anguish to the student. Nate now gets a formal apology from everyone and Mrs. Godfrey gets reprimanded and, maybe, fired.
Really?! Putting an eleven-year-old in a corner? Come on, Mrs. G., you’re better than that. (Make him help in the cafeteria. Then he’ll know some real heat.)

Wow, and he lives in Maine. Where I live, it gets this way in early May. Although, we do have heavy air conditioning.

I suppose standing in the corner is a comic standard, but no public school would do that.
