And as we enjoy the unofficial beginning of summer and grill and gripe about the heat, may we all remember those who did not come back to enjoy it with us.
We have our first upper-eighties and a few nineties this Memorial Day weekend. And just last week, we had a day where the high was 73!!! Whump! Welcome to Summer in upper Illinois! Freezing temps til Mother’s Day, but by June 1st, you can be melting your face off, going out to retrieve the mail!!!
A while back my wife and I were doing a Cub Scout activity in the mountains west of Phoenix when it hit 101 the first weekend in Spring. That just ain’t right!
Just change to Celsius. No more 100° temperatures, water will boil at that mark. I noticed that radio and TV meteorologists would give low readings as “below freezing” instead of “below zero”.
Live in California now and we hit 110 to 115 in late August/September….luckily no humidity here….they think it’s humid but as a native New Yorker and part of it on Long Island they don’t have a clue of humidity!

Winter poses many problems, but the nice thing is that there’s practically no limit to the ways we can stay comfortable.
But there are few ways we can stay comfortable in extreme heat, and they all worsen the conditions that produce the heat!
Planetary overheating will definitely kill all higher-order life unless we stop it.

It’s man’s fundamental right to gripe about the weather. It’s in the Constitution! … Well, it oughta be!

What I dread most about summer is the fat ladies in short shorts. LOL

You can gripe all you want, Arlo! No one likes being too hot or too cold so griping in both winter and summer can be forgiven.

In the third panel the thermometer looks to be about 40 degrees. Unless his thermometer is backwards.
