My eye doctor suggested I take fish oil capsules for my dry eye, but cautioned me about fish burps. I told her they wouldn’t stand a chance next to the Mexican food burps, pizza burps and Thai food burps.
Oh, how I remember the days of daily doses of cod liver oil, and the resulting burps. Not fondly, mind you. But I don’t remember getting cod liver oil for any complaints. Usually, the typical remedy for any complaint was castor oil – which almost (but not quite) made the former almost (but not quite) palatable.

I can sympathise. Back in the ’70s I was taking some prescribed medicine. Every belch came out smelling like asphalt.

I had a fish oil burp once. It tasted like rancid aquarium water smells. Truly nasty.

I get that same effect about 45 minutes after swallowing them. I take pharmaceutical-grade fish oil. Two gelcaps, twice/day….

I take fish oil caps: they have a tiny bit of strawberry added to them (in hopes of disguising the flavor, I guess). Makes for kinda odd fish burps.

I thought cod liver oil was supposed to work by holding it and asking the ailing if they were ailing. “NO”

Any Icelander could have told you this. My family still takes this in liquid form. I can’t get it down at all!

I guess that’s the reason for the musky odour.
