When I have said that to someone, it just means I have gained those 5 pounds. Nelson doesn’t mean that, but he could have. He is still a growing child, so he will be gaining weight, though not in this strip.

Readers deserve better than an old worn-out joke.

I’m reminded of someone else’s comment awhile back who told her husband she lost weight and he responded, “You didn’t lose it, it’s following you”.
