Most a cappella groups I have heard are wonderful. A properly trained human singer is a joy to hear, IMHO.

I think it technically means ‘as in a chapel’ which probably was understood as vical musics sans accompaniment. My high school choir was called “A Cappella,” and we frequently performed con accompagnamento, or with accompaniment.

I’m Eastern Orthodox, all our Church Music is A Capella. And with a well practiced choir, very beautiful too.

This is remarkably stupid. An accapalla group IS a band. You don’t cut you a check payable to the instruments.

I don’t think an a cappella group the senator could afford would be that good.

While Gregorian Chant would probable be the earliest ecclesiastical A Capella music we are familiar with, I enjoy the profane harmonies of Barber Shop Quartets.

Barbershop and DoWop groups both do A Capella signing. Of course you need them to have different voices, bass, tenor, etc.

I’m sure everyone has heard Barney Fife sing “a Capella?”
