Is it my imagination, or do “Hubba-Hubba” Hubbs legs look longer? Wow, what a beefcake. Go get him Ellie!

They will get married on the 50 yard line during some halftime to an important game.

Gabby, strangely, will catch the bouquet.

It’s good Hubbs isn’t wearing a football helmet, he’s clearly blind enough without one.

Sheesh Hubbs puts a lot into this, does he have money riding on this game? Or better yet did he bet the other team if they won they get Ellie, and if they lose they get Ms. Edith? XD

I can guess Hubbs’ next line: “By the way this is a shirts and skins game, and we’re skins”. How could Ellie respond? ;D

She’s the pizza dough of this strip, always wants to be kneaded….snort

It’s true. Men are from Mars, women are from Venus. That boy is as clueless as they come. I almost feel sorry for Ellie. Almost.

… she’s gonna be so proud that she’ll bust out of her shirt; then Hubbs will become his old stammering self… or will he?!? …

Is rolling up your pants cuffs the fashion now? ‘Cause I must’ve missed it.

I’m just waiting for the wig to fall off from all the activity. I remember Hubbs’ reaction when Sedine took her elf hat off ;)

How is no one noticing her ultra-feminine voice? The puckered pout of her lips? Her narrow wrists and finely manicured nails, with bracelet dangling? Her delicate chin? Her (if drawn properly to scale) overlarge breasts and hips and the hypnotic sway of her walk?

Or are they all just pretending that because she dressed like a guy (and only sort of!) that therefore she must identify as a guy, and so they’re supposed to otherwise feign deafness and blindness and call her as such?

Never before has a pep talk sounded so … romantic!

HA HA HA HA HA, if Hubb knew who she really is, he would’t act of badass.

The fourth panel is absolutely pre- Comics Code Authority EC comics “Tomb of Terror,” and dozens of similar horror mags. I am swept back to 1952 and my first encounter with one. Nightmares alternating with insomnia for days.

Hubb’s pep talk reminds me of my old football days. “IT’S A FOOTBALL GAME! IT’S MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIFE OR DEATH!!!” my coaches would tell us repeatedly. No wonder we always lost.
