Aim for temperate, not extremes, compromise, and still be alive.

My wife wants to move to southern California or Arizona after I finish with my schooling. Or she at least wants to become snow birds. She does not like the cold rainy days here in Seattle during the winter months. It hurts her joints. I’m leaning toward snow birds. That will work now that I am retired.

You can always put on more clothing, but you can only take off so much …

Here in Ohio, I love the four seasons, but I prefer the warmer months. If I were given a choice, I would take August over February every time.

I think they may pine for months like May or September

It’s a lot more common for people to freeze to death than to die from the heat. Well, maybe it’s become more even now with global warming/climate change. We live in Florida and we laugh when we hear people say it’s too hot. It’s a lot more temperate than out west. And in the 4 years I’ve been in SW Florida, the temp has never been above 95. We get a sea breeze and pretty much everyone has a pool. Was just in NY visiting family and it was uncomfortably humid without the tropical breezes or ubiquitous pools. And no palm trees. LOL

When I retired I moved from NC to northern ME to get away from the heat, but right now I’m on Ocracoke Island on the outer banks of NC…….should have stayed up north. Can’t stand this heat! What in the world was I thinking?

We need seasons to keep our perspective, our sanity. Just look at what happens to people where there are no dramatic seasonal changes.

Staying active helps with both heat and cold, probably by acclimating to the temperature. But of the extremes, I do prefer a hike in winter to summer.

We finished our move to Vancouver Island from San Francisco in early June. 1000 miles north. And it has been 25º to 30º warmer up here than SF. (That’s in Fahrenheit)
