Lynn Johnston hits today with not one but two of her favorite themes. Parents should not like sugar-filled kids’ cereals or rap music. As it turns out, both of those things are more ageless than Elly Patterson.
I’ve eaten corn flakes, plain not sweetened, since I was a lad. Now I do add some crushed bran flakes, partly for the fiber and also ‘cause is tastes good. If it doesn’t taste good, I fast.
That is not what would kill her. It is that she screams at every thing, no matter how major or minor. Which is higher; the national debt or Elly’s blood pressure?
1989. Terrible time musically to be a kid. On the plus side, he could have drawn from New Traditionalist country or Debbie Gibson, and at least gotten some good listening in the process. But that wouldn’t have made his point. However, if he was trying to (as Debbie would have said) Shock Your Mama, he would have done a lot better invoking hardcore punk instead of rap.

Hey us fogeys like that kind of food. And it’s easier on the gut than all that sugar laden stuff.

Mike does have one point. Age can be a state of mind. Trying something to make you feel young might help.

Cream of wheat is fogey food? I always considered it a special treat, empty calories, low fiber and all.

I’d rather have high fiber than chocolate covered sugar bombs. So do my intestines.

It was that food with the sugar that addicted them and made them old fogeys. Too late.
